It is for these reasons that the AA has partnered with DEKRA, a globally recognised German vehicle-monitoring organisation to make South African roads safer.

DEKRA is world leader in the supply of vehicle roadworthy inspections. DEKRA has taken over the ownership and management of the formerly branded AA Test & Drive Centres and have now branded the centres "DEKRA in association with the AA". The collaboration between the AA and DEKRA will ensure that the standards of vehicle safety in South Africa are world class.

The DEKRA in association with the AA centres offer a range of professional vehicle examinations designed to help you identify vehicle flaws, and make an informed decision when purchasing a new or used car.

AA Members qualify for a 15% discount on professional vehicle examinations, including:

Roadworthy Testing

A Roadworthy Test must be conducted every time a vehicle changes ownership. The test, which is a legal requirement, takes 30 minutes and ensures that vehicles meet the safety standards defined by the SABS.

Multi-point check

A Multi-Point Check establishes the overall condition of a vehicle. It is limited to a visual inspection which includes additional items and a Roadworthy Test.

Technical Examination

A Technical Examination is a detailed bumper to bumper inspection of all visible and observable components of the vehicle. The process takes about 2 to 3 hours.
