The road is potholed and very uneven in places. Roadworks are in progress between Orange River Bridge and Springfontein with stop/go controls in operation. Delays of +-20 minutes at a time can be expected. Expected date of completion is December 2012. The road is narrow for 6km from King William’s Town towards Stutterheim.

Stop/Go Controls Roadworks
The condition is fair to good, except for the section between Gonubie and Brakfontein interchanges where the riding quality is uneven. Construction works commenced November 2011 on this section and is ongoing. Speed restrictions of 60 km/h apply and stop/go controls will be encountered with delay times of +- 10 minutes. Roadworks are in progress between Rouxville and Zastron.
