Roadworks Roadworks
The road is in a fair condition. Maintenance works are continuous throughout this route. Stop/go controls will be in operation with delays of less than 5 minutes at a time. Rehabilitation has commenced between Kloofeinde and De Brug. Expected date of completion is November 2012. Roadworks have commenced from Wapadsberg for 17km towards Cradock. At least two stop/go controls may be encountered. Speed restrictions of 60 km/h are applicable and no overtaking will be possible in stop/go sections. Motorists are advised to be aware of wild animals on the rest of road.

Roadworks Pedestrians and Stray Animals
The road is in a fair to poor condition. There is no scheduled maintenance but roadworks may be encountered together with stop/go controls resulting in short delays. Motorists are advised to be aware of wild animals and pedestrians in the urban areas at Cradock and Tarkastad.

Stop/Go Controls Potholes
Roadworks have commenced in the Witkransnek Pass. Stop/go controls with long delays will be encountered. Reduced speed restriction of 60 km/h will apply over 17km. The road might close for blasting works every Tuesday and Thursday from 10:00 until 14:00. The detour route during the closure is the R61 and N9 via Graaff-Reinet. Expected date of completion is April 2013. The road is potholed and in a poor condition. Motorists are advised to exercise caution.

Sections between Noupoort and Hugoslaagte Station are very narrow with narrow bridges. Stop/go controls are in operation. Overtaking areas are limited and the road is potholed in places. Expected date of completion is June 2012. The road is in a fair to poor condition, and is potholed in places. Exercise extreme caution.
