Not All Fuels are Created Equal

Q: Are all fuels the same?

A: Actually, not all fuels are the same. BP Ultimate’s formulation is different and includes four times the cleaning performance of ordinary fuel, which is better for your car’s performance and the environment.

Q: If all fuels have to conform to SA’s Petroleum Products Specifications and Standards, how can different fuel companies claim their fuel to be better than others?

A: All standards are minimums. So long as the product conforms to the minimum standard, manufacturers can market it. But in order to provide ‘more’ for motorists, BP has created a superior fuels range by adding a unique blend of additives.

Q: Some fuel companies claim you can get better fuel economy with their products, but have any actually proved this?

A: BP is the only petroleum company that publicly states its products’ fuel economy benefit. BP Ultimate Unleaded and Diesel can give motorists up to 25 and 36km more per tank, compared with ordinary fuels. Besides BP, no other petroleum company has been able to back up its fuel economy claims by detailing a specific number of extra kilometres.

Q: How can I measure the mileage benefit on my own vehicle?

A: Once you switch to BP Ultimate, we recommend at least five fill-ups to clean out engine deposits in your engine. Thereafter you will see noticeable improvements in fuel economy. Many consumers have reported a significant difference since switching to BP Ultimate fuel.
