Peugeot Maintenance

Peugeot RCZ FrontIf you’re going to talk the talk, then you have to walk the walk. And every brand out there will tell you that they’re working hard and making big strides with customer car and aftersales support. Problem it is hard to quantify this unless you’re an owner and even then, it is still a sample of one and statisticians will tell you about samples of a small size…

So instead, Peugeot South Africa, in a highly tangible move to lay to rest perceptions and other ghosts of the past, has marked the tenth anniversary of its presence in the country (the last three as a wholly-owned subsidiary of PSA France) by including - wait for it - a full five-year maintenance plan on new passenger cars with the lion logo on the bonnet.

That’s not such a big deal I hear you say but consider this: the deal applies to every Pug on sale, including the humble 107, and it is comprehensive; covering everything except tyres, fuel and oil top-ups between services. If there’s one way of taking the guesswork out of owning a car this is surely it and I suppose ‘guesswork’ is what is inherent in owning some of the less mainstream brands.

Peugeot RCZ RearThe full maintenance plan is optional on Peugeot’s light and medium commercial vehicle range, mainly because fleet owners often handle their own servicing and maintenance. However, a five-year/100 000 km service plan remains a standard offering on the Partner and Expert ranges, while the Boxer is covered by a five-year/120 000 km maintenance plan.

“We are immensely proud to be offering Peugeot purchasers a five-full maintenance plan for the first time,” says Francis Harnie, managing director of Peugeot SA. “The decision not only offers our customers even greater peace of motoring mind, but is also incontrovertible proof of Peugeot’s confidence in its products and its dealer network.”

The chief appeal of a maintenance plan is that it enables car owners to plan their motoring budget accurately, with no additional expenses, hidden costs of service price increases to contend with during the maintenance plan period. It should also ensure - by locking the car to a franchised dealer - the use of original parts and properly trained technical staff, with long term benefits in areas like resale value.

“The five-year full maintenance plan represents a solid commitment by Peugeot to the SA market and its customers, and will ensure that confidence in the brand continues to grow,” Harnie concluded.
