Female Roadside Assistant - Tow truck driver

Background Information The Roadside Assistant (Tow Truck Driver) will be responsible for providing a high standard of service to AA customers requiring breakdown assistance. The incumbent will be required to provide both individual as well as corporate customers with the level of service that is synonymous with the AA’s reputations. The Roadside Assistant will primarily render towing (recovery) assistance but will also assist with minor repairs and fault diagnosis when called upon to do so.
Job Objectives
  • Providing towing (recovery) assistance to AA members who have broken down within rural and or urban areas
  • Carrying out minor emergency roadside repairs, and assisting with fault diagnosis
  • Rendering other vehicle related assistance to members where called upon – For example battery sales and locksmith work
  • Ensuring that tools and safety & recovery equipment are maintained in good serviceable condition and reporting faulty items to the Team Leader
  • Taking responsibility for the safekeeping and appearance of the AA vehicle, tools and equipment while doing daily duties
  • Ensuring that all administrative duties are carried out correctly and timeously, as per procedures manual and Team Leader’s instruction
  • Maintaining a presentable image to the public at all times
  • Upholding the AA Brand by observing the required driving behaviour at all times

Job Experience

  • Some working experience within the towing/freight industry or within a motor mechanical or automotive electrical environment
  • At least 2 years working experience within a customer service environment
  • Exposure to a sales environment would be advantageous
  • An advanced driving certificate would be advantageous

Education

  • Grade 12
  • Motor Mechanical and or Auto Electrical qualification would be advantageous

Other

  • A code C1 (10) or EC, EC1 (14) driving license and a PRDP – Cargo
  • Shift work – 3-shift system
  • Own transport to and from the workplace premises (as hot seating will occur with AA equipment)
