F1 2012 - A Long European Tour (six races) gets Underway in Valencia, Spain this Weekend…
The Formula One world is holding its breath: will the European Grand Prix on Sunday see an unprecedented eighth winner from eight races this season? It looks unlikely, and the smart money seems to be on either Lewis Hamilton or reigning champion Sebastian Vettel for the win.
But it isn’t completely inconceivable that there will be a new face on the top step of the podium, and while Button Alonso, Rosberg, Vettel, Maldonado, Webber and Hamilton have all notched up wins, possible candidates for victory include that wily old fox Michael Schumacher and also the Lotus-Renault pair, Kimi Raikkonen and Romain Grosjean. Both have scored a second and a third this season and stand sixth and seventh in the championship, respectively.
According to sports betting website, WSB, championship leader Hamilton is the favourite to win with odds of 28/10, followed by Vettel on 4/1.
Raikkonen is listed at 13/1 and Grosjean 14/1, with Schumie on 16/1 while Pastor Maldonado must be feeling a little insulted with 66/1 - which suggests his win in Spain was nothing more than a flash in the pan. Still, that’s not nearly as bad as his Williams team-mate Bruno Senna who has very long odds of 200/1 against him winning, a figure which must surely have his uncle Ayrton turning in his grave…
