The Automobile Association has received numerous requests for comment on a pill which is added to a vehicle's fuel tank and is claimed to reduce fuel consumption.
The AA has not been approached to test this invention and is not aware of the exact method by which its distributor claims the invention saves fuel. The AA's approach to devices which claim to reduce fuel consumption is that it can neither support nor reject the assertions of their makers or distributors until the products have been put through a comprehensive, scientific and credible testing programme.
"Motorists are reminded that driving style is the biggest determinant of fuel economy. The AA advises motorists to maximise their fuel economy by ensuring their vehicle is in good mechanical condition with the tyres correctly inflated, and by adopting defensive and fuel-efficient driving habits" said the Automobile Association (AA).
