Wednesday the 15th marks the start of the holiday season for most and the Automobile Association calls on motorists to exercise extra caution on all major routes. Other peak traffic days this season are marked as the 24th December just before Christmas, the 31st December just before New Year and Sunday the 9th January before schools return in 2011.
Major routes to look out for are the N3 between Lions River and Nottingham, on Van Reenenís Pass and from Warden to Villiers. On the N4, motorists are urged to take care between Middelburg and Belfast and on the N1 on the stretch between Three Sisters and Kingsburg.
If you donít already have an AA membership, application is available online and is a simple, easy process and one that could save you from being stranded on the road. Fatigue remains one of the biggest killers on our roads, so rest every 200km and if youíre tired, itís simple Ė donít drive.
