Terms & Conditions

The following terms and conditions apply to the different AA Membership options as well as all other products and services as offered and rendered by the AA. These terms and conditions of service constitute the agreement between you and the AA, please read them carefully.

 

Rescue App

Definitions

  • If you are a paid-up AA Member, AA Rescue Service assistances will be provided from your benefits entitlement. If you have exhausted your benefits entitlement, assistances will be provided at AA Preferred Rates. If you are not an AA Member, AA Rescue Service assistances will be provided on a pay-on-use basis.

  • We grant you a non-exclusive, royalty-free and revocable licence to use the App in accordance with these terms.

  • We may amend or terminate the licence to use the App at any time, and for any reason.

  • Upon termination, the rights and licences granted to you herein shall terminate and you must cease all use of the App.

  • AA Rescue App support is available on 0861 000 234 Monday to Sunday from 08:00 to 22:00.

Licence:

  • We grant you a non-exclusive, royalty-free and revocable licence to use the App in accordance with these terms.
  • We may amend or terminate the licence to use the App at any time, and for any reason.
  • Upon termination, the rights and licences granted to you herein shall terminate and you must cease all use of the App.
  • AA Rescue App support is available on 0861 444 143 Monday to Sunday from 08:00 to 22:00.

AA Rescue Service:

  • If we receive an AA Rescue alert via the App registered in your name, we will attempt to contact you to confirm the type of assistance you require.
  • Should we not be able to contact you after three attempts, we will attempt to contact your nominated emergency contacts using the information you provided. Your emergency contacts may instruct us to send assistance to the location of the originating alert (if we are able to obtain the location).
  • If you are a paid-up AA Member but have exhausted your benefits entitlement, or if the assistance falls outside your benefits entitlement, or if you are not an AA Member and choose not to become one, we shall require pre-payment by credit card from you or your nominated emergency contact before we provide assistance. Alternatively, your nominated emergency contact may instruct us that you will pay for the assistance in cash upon our arrival, and you agree you will be liable for the cost thereof. No assistance will be rendered if no payment is received.
  • By nominating your emergency contacts, you are authorising them to make the above decisions on your behalf.
  • Should we be unable to contact you or either of your nominated emergency contacts after three attempts and you are a paid-up AA Member with assistances remaining in terms of your benefits entitlements, we shall send out assistance to the location of the originating alert (if we are able to obtain the location).
  • Should we be unable to contact you or either of your emergency contacts after three attempts and you are not an AA Member, or are an AA Member with no assistances remaining in terms of your benefits entitlement, we will take no further action.

User’s Acknowledgement:

  • You agree/acknowledge that:
  • The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without any warranty of any kind;
  • to use the App you are required to have a compatible mobile telephone or handheld device (and where applicable, airtime and internet access);
  • To be eligible to receive the AA Rescue Service you must:
  • register with us; and,
  • receive a confirmation message from us to validate your registration.
  • It is your responsibility to ensure the information you provide to us (particularly your own contact details and those of your nominated emergency contacts) is accurate and up to date at all times;
  • You will use the AA Rescue Service and App only for the purposes for which they are intended and not for any commercial or illegal purpose;
  • The App is provided over the internet and mobile networks, and so its quality and availability may be affected by factors outside our control;
  • We own all trademarks, copyright, database rights and other intellectual property rights of any nature in the App and the AA Rescue Service, together with the underlying software code to the App; 
  • You have no further right in, or to, the App, other than the licence referred to in clause 2;
  • Save as set out in clause 2.4, we will not be responsible for any support or maintenance of the App;
  • You will not, nor allow third parties on your behalf to, make or distribute copies of the App; attempt to copy, reproduce, alter, modify, reverse engineer, disassemble, decompile, transfer, exchange or translate the App; or create derivative works of the App of any kind whatsoever;
  • We may amend the AA Rescue Service and the App at any time;
  • You will be responsible for all charges levied by your mobile network provider for access to its network while downloading and using the App, or any such third party charges as may arise; and by downloading the App you agree that we may contact you with marketing and other communications. 
  • Should you wish to stop receiving such communications from us, please email aasa@aasa.co.za advising us of this. This does not apply to communications related to you as a user of the AA Rescue Service.

Errors and omissions excepted

Competitions

  1. The terms and conditions of this promotion become effective and binding from [date]. 
  2. Participants are entitled to only one entry per person. [list the criteria for the entrant’s eligibility to enter the competition]. 
  3. Participants must be 18 years and older and be in possession of a valid driver’s licence.
  4. The competition is open to *active paid up AA Members only. 
  5. Winners will be notified by e-mail within 72 hours of the draw date.  All winners will be published on the AA website.
  6. Winners will each receive [stipulate prize]- if cash card need to emphasise if it is redeemable within the borders of the Republic of South Africa and if the card is non-redeemable as cash]. 

    a. Upon receipt of the winner’s notification, the winners have seven (7) working days within which to claim their prizes and confirm their contact details.

    b. Participants must ensure that their contact details are correct, as incorrect contact details can result in an unclaimed prize and forfeiture of same.

    c. The AA reserves the right to redistribute all unclaimed prizes.

  7. The winner hereby indemnifies the AA against all losses; claims; expenses and/or costs that may occur as a result of acceptance and use of the prize.
  8. Winners will be asked to consent to the use of their name, town and photograph for promotional purposes.
  9. Prizes may not be exchanged or transferred.
  10. The judge’s decision is final, and no negotiations and/or correspondence will be entered into after the fact.
  11. No employees or immediate family members of the AA of SA, agencies or service providers used by or affiliated to the AA of SA may take part in this competition.
  12. The AA of SA reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel and/or suspend any competition without further notice to the entrants whether active or prospective.
  13. The AA of SA, its directors, Members, partners, employees, lawful agents, consultants, suppliers, contractors and sponsors assume no liability whatsoever for any direct or indirect loss or damage arising from an entrant's participation in this competition or for any loss or damage, howsoever arising.
  14. Any agreement or transaction entered into or payment tendered in respect of the above mentioned competition will not give rise to any legal relationship; rights; duties or any consequences whatsoever and will not be legally enforceable, or be the subject of litigation against the AA of SA, its affiliates or any of its lawful agents.
  15. Closing date must be adhered to and no extensions will be given unless expressly provided in writing by the AA. 
  16. AA Membership and its various products are subject to individual terms and conditions. Please ensure that you familiarize yourself with these accordingly.
  17. Pictures shown are for illustrative purposes only. 
  18. All entrants agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.

 

SPECIAL TERMS:
“active paid up” – means the following:

  1. Your membership has been paid up in full for the subscription period
  2. Should your membership be on a debit order payment structure, the debit order for the month in which you are entering the competition must have been paid and received by the AA
